The following conditions are treated by this medication: Oral Form: Inadequate formation of vitamin D, malabsorption, or liver disease Reduced levels of calcium in the blood caused by renal osteodystrophy (disease or abnormality of the kidneys) or decreased function of the parathyroid gland.
