Ophthalmic ofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, such as corneal ulcers and conjunctivitis (pink eye). Ofloxacin belongs to a group of drugs known as quinolone antibiotics. It functions by eradicating the infection-causing germs. By binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, corticosteroids suppress pro-inflammatory signals while enhancing anti-inflammatory ones. With a half life of two to three hours, prednisolone acetate has a brief duration of action.
